Luke 18:31-34
Jesus Again Tells about
(Matthew 20.17-19; Mark 10.32-34)
31Jesus took the twelve apostles aside and said:
We are now on our way to Jerusalem. Everything that the prophets wrote about the Son of Man will happen there. 32He will be handed over to foreigners, who will make fun of him, mistreat him, and spit on him. 33They will beat him and kill him, but three days later he will rise to life.
34The apostles did not understand what Jesus was talking about. They could not understand, because the meaning of what he said was hidden from them.
Luke 18:31-34
Jesus predicts his death a third time
31Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, ‘We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled. 32He will be handed over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult him and spit on him; 33they will flog him and kill him. On the third day he will rise again.’
34The disciples did not understand any of this. Its meaning was hidden from them, and they did not know what he was talking about.
